Danny Kanell is back with his weekly ranking of the top quarterbacks in college football. On Thursday, Kanell provided his latest top 13 after Week 8’s games.

After spending the previous week at No. 2, Miami‘s Darian Mensah is now No. 1 on Kanell’s updated rankings. That’s after Mensah was nearly perfect against Pitt, completing 31 of his 37 passes for 387 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-23 win.

Mensah took the top spot from Oregon State’s Braden Atkinson. The Beavers, who were idle during Week 8, visit Fresno State on Saturday.

Two Big 12 quarterbacks moved into Kanell’s top 5. Oklahoma State’s Drew Mestermaker, at No. 3, lit Colorado up for 386 yards and four touchdowns in a 57-24 rout in Stillwater. Arizona’s Noah Fifita moved from No. 10 to No. 4 after a 304-yard, two-touchdown performance against Iowa State.

Rounding out the top five is Ole Miss‘s Trinidad Chambliss. Chambliss slipped from No. 3 to No. 5 after throwing three interceptions in a loss to Texas.

Also in Kanell’s top 10: SMU‘s Kevin Jennings, whose three touchdowns against Cal gave him the school record for passing TDs. Jennings was followed by Notre Dame‘s CJ Carr, USC’s Jayden Maiava, Wake Forest‘s Gio Lopez, and Georgia‘s Gunner Stockton.
