Week 1 of the college football season is still two days away from being in the books, but following a Saturday of chaos and learning, people are already laying out takeaways.

CBS Sports’ Danny Kanell took to social media to share some of his post-game grades from the weekend, and a quartet of SEC teams were included in his list.

With no squads from the league having fallen yet, it comes as little surprise that none of the SEC’s teams were given a mark lower than a B letter grade:

  • Ohio State: A+
  • Oregon: C+
  • Georgia: A
  • Texas: A
  • Indiana: B+
  • Miami: A+
  • Oklahoma: A
  • Auburn: B-
  • Baylor: D+

After taking down overmatched opponents, Georgia, Texas and Oklahoma were all given A’s by Kanell, with the trio having combined for a +163 margin of victory.

Completing the included SEC teams, Auburn earned a B- from Kanell following its hard-fought 17-16 win over Baylor in Atlanta. The Tigers had to hold off the Bears’ late two-point attempt to secure the first win of the Alex Golesh era.

Miami and Ohio State were the only squads to earn A+’s from Kanell, while the analyst notably awarded Oregon a C+ after the Ducks needed all four quarters to hold Boise State at bay in a 34-27 win.

Kanell’s lowest grade went to Baylor (D+) despite the Bears being mere yards away from beating Auburn in the closing moments of the Aflac Kickoff Game.
