Donald Trump reportedly cancels plans to attend Georgia-Alabama due to Hurricane Isaias
Donald Trump will not attend Saturday night’s SEC showdown between No. 2 Georgia and No. 6 Alabama because of the effects of the approaching Hurricane Isaias, which was upgraded to a Category 3 hurricane on Friday morning.
Tuscaloosa Police confirmed the change of plans for the President of the United States on Friday afternoon to Ryan Phillips, the founder of the Tuscaloosa Patch.
Trump had previously planned to attend Saturday’s scheduled primetime matchup, which for now is set to kick off as planned at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. But Hurricane Isaias is threatening everything surrounding the game, including tailgating activities around Bryant-Denny Stadium, parking and shuttle services and even ESPN’s College GameDay, which is in town for the leadup to the big matchup.
ESPN announced on Thursday that College GameDay, the popular Saturday morning pregame show, is moving its live broadcast inside to Coleman Coliseum instead of holding the show outside as usual at the Alabama quad.
Now, Hurricane Isaias’ outreach has affected Trump’s plans to attend another SEC game, which he has been known to do frequently through his time as U.S. President. According to Friday afternoon’s report by Phillips, those plans have been squashed because of the issues surrounding the hurricane that on Friday morning got even stronger.
With Hurricane Isaias threatening the Tuscaloosa area, the Georgia-Alabama clash is on as scheduled for now. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about who has the edge as the undefeated SEC rivals meet in the primetime matchup at Bryant-Denny Stadium:
