Eli Drinkwitz gave an update on Mizzou running back Ahmad Hardy during his “Tiger Talk” radio show on Tuesday, a day after the Tigers star was back practicing with the team for the first time since being shot in the upper leg at a concert in May.

“He practiced yesterday. I would say it was a good day. But the trick was, how does his body respond? Can he do it back-to-back days? I’m happy to report: He practiced again today. I thought it went well,” Drinkwitz said, per 247Sports’ Cody Goodwin.

Hardy’s first priority is getting back into game shape. His timeline for returning to the field is still up in the air. That, obviously, depends on his continued recovery and how things progress in practice.

“There’s just a lot of things. Everybody wants a timeline, and I don’t have a timeline. We’re doing the best we can every single day to help this young man. That’s the most important thing. When it’s time, it’s time,” Eli Drinkwitz said.

From the sounds of it, though, things are progressing positively with Hardy early on.

“There’s not a lot of literature on how this return-to-play protocol worked,” Drinkwitz said. “We had things come that we weren’t anticipating that we’ve had to find solutions for … We finally got to the point where (we said) let’s see him practice.”
