Davon Benjamin is narrowing things down as he nears his big decision.
Benjamin is the one of the top defensive backs in the Class of 2026. The blue-chip prospect has collected 25 scholarship offers, but has 5 finalists in mind for his upcoming commitment.
Texas, Michigan, Oregon, Washington and North Carolina are in the mix, Benjamin told Rivals. He plans to announce his commitment on Aug. 2. Miami, Ohio State, USC, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas A&M are among the programs that showed interest in Benjamin but did not make the final 5.
Out of Westlake Village (California) Oaks Christian High School, Benjamin is listed as measuring 6-feet and 170 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Benjamin is rated 4-stars, the No. 5 safety, No. 7 player in the state of California and No. 35 prospect overall in the 2026 recruiting class.
Benjamin took his weekend visits over May 30-20. Texas was one of the programs to host Benjamin, who made it to Austin on June 6.
Texas currently has 18 verbal commitments in its 2026 recruiting class, which ranks No. 9 nationally on the Composite. Steve Sarkisian and company will found out in a few weeks if they can add Benjamin to that group.
