ESPN logged rare back-to-back College GameDay appearances from Utah, first from Provo for BYU-Notre Dame in Week 7 before heading to Salt Lake City for Utah-Houston in Week 8.
On Tuesday, the network announced some more big ratings for the program. On average, 2.5 million viewers tuned in to College GameDay on Saturday. It was the second-highest-rated Week 8 episode in the history of the program. The 11 a.m. ET hour pulled in 3.1 million.
As for the Utah-Houston game itself, it was a close one, but the Utes pulled it out to improve to 7-0. Despite trailing 10-0 with 6:46 remaining in the third quarter and 13-7 early in the fourth, Utah scored 14 points in the final frame to win 21-13 and hand the Cougars their second loss.
Week 9’s episode of College GameDay will be based at a location it’s gotten to know quite well in recent years. The show will be live from Bloomington ahead of Indiana-Minnesota. It’s the second time in three seasons that it has originated from Indiana University. The Hoosiers defeated Michigan 13-6 in their last outing, while the Golden Gophers upset Iowa 13-10 on a last-second field goal to improve to 3-1 in the Big Ten.
