There are just two college football games between ranked opponents in Week 6. With respect to UCLA-Oregon, the Georgia–Alabama showdown in Tuscaloosa is Saturday’s headlining matchup.
The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide have combined to win five national championships since 2015. They set the standard in the SEC, which sets the standard for the sport.
ESPN’s Bill Connelly, like everyone else, has a prediction for the battle. Only his, unlike other people’s, is analytically based. According to Connelly’s SP+, Georgia will beat Alabama 30-27 this weekend.
Connelly’s prediction has the Bulldogs (+1.5) not only covering their current spread, but their opening spread (-1.5), too. His projected score also has the game nudging over its total (56.5).

Georgia has yet to be truly tested this season. Kirby Smart and Co. have laid waste to all of their opponents, prevailing by 26.7 points per game in SEC play. Alabama has played higher-quality SEC foes, but the same could be said about them. The Crimson Tide has beaten its conference members by 27.3 points per game.
Both Gunner Stockton (13 TD, 1 INT) and Keelon Russell (11 TD, 2 INT) have been exceptional in 2026. Whichever quarterback maintains his level of production — or whichever defense can better wrangle the opposing passer — will dictate who walks out of Bryant-Denny Stadium with a win.
Georgia and Alabama kick off at 7:30 p.m. E.T. (ABC) on Saturday.
