Florida just put 52 points against Ole Miss in Week 4 as it continued to show major progress in Jon Sumrall’s first season in Gainesville.
The Gators won, 52-28, at The Swamp to improve to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the SEC, and now they’ll try to keep surging in Week 5 in enemy territory with a trip to No. 25 Mizzou. Florida has risen to No. 8 in the country, and the Sumrall’s crew will try to keep rolling next Saturday in Columbia as the ranked SEC teams kick things off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
While Florida will aim to keep its good vibes going, Mizzou will have a different challenge on its home field. The Tigers were in prime position to knock off Mississippi State on Saturday night in Starkville, leading by a touchdown going into the 4th quarter. But the bottom dropped out in the final 15 minutes of a 31-24 loss to the equally surging Bulldogs.
It was Mizzou’s first loss of the season and in its SEC opener, so it was a double whammy of sorts for Eli Drinkwitz‘s team in Week 4. The Tigers (3-1) will try to avoid back-to-back losses next Saturday while they go from 1 red-hot team in Mississippi State to another in Florida, and the Kalshi market believes they have a good chance to hang around against the Gators.
Florida has been installed as a 3.5-point favorite by that Kalshi market, with a total on the game of 56.5 points. It will be a battle to see if the Gators can keep surging or if Mizzou can hand Sumrall his first loss as Florida head coach.
Florida has gone from outside the Top 25 to No. 8 in the country, and the challenges will keep coming in October, starting with its Week 5 matchup at Mizzou. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about Florida’s chances to stay perfect in a hostile environment next Saturday:
