Florida State fans rush the field after upsetting Alabama
Florida State fans endured a rough 2024 season, but those struggles are now a distant memory.
The Noles upset Alabama 31-17 on Saturday evening, equaling their FBS win total from a season ago. Florida State was brilliant on both sides of the ball, leading to a thorough and dominant victory.
After the final seconds ticked off the clock at the remodeled Doak Campbell Stadium, Florida State fans rushed the field to celebrate the victory:
Here’s another angle from field level:
This loss will put tremendous pressure on Alabama moving forward under coach Kalen DeBoer. It’s already the fourth time Alabama has lost a game under DeBoer as a double-digit favorite in Vegas. It’s also the fourth time Alabama has been on the wrong side of a field rush — Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Oklahoma all did the same after beating the Tide in 2024.
For Florida State, it has the opposite effect. Mike Norvell entered this season with serious question marks around his tenure after the Noles went 2-10 last season. FSU now may be poised at making another run to the College Football Playoff.
Alabama will try to re-group before facing off against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. The Crimson Tide still have another tough nonconference test vs. Wisconsin before beginning SEC play later this month, too.
Florida State will try to ride this momentum into its Week 2 contest against East Texas A&M.
