Florida State is currently searching for a new athletic director since firing Michael Alford last month. The football team in particular is under fire for another struggling season under head coach Mike Norvell.

The Seminoles are 3-4 this season and 10-21 overall dating back to 2024. It’s a stark drop off after Florida State won the ACC title in 2023.

Florida State president Richard McCullough sent a message to fans on Tuesday afternoon. In it, he provides an update on the AD search and commented on the overall state of the university’s athletics.

“Florida State should compete for championships, develop exceptional student athletes, attract outstanding coaches and personnel, and operate with the resources, leadership, and commitment necessary to succeed at the highest level of college athletics,” McCullough said. “That standard is not negotiable.”

McCullough is hopeful that the fans will remain loyal as the Seminoles aim for a successful rebuild.

“We are not asking you to ignore the results. We are committed to changing them. And we are not asking you to believe that everything is fine. We know it isn’t,” McCullough said. “We are fully committed to building lasting success at Florida State.”

Next up for Florida State is a home matchup vs. Clemson on Saturday (7 p.m. ET/ACC Network).
