Have a preseason debut, Ty Simpson.

The former Alabama quarterback shined in his first game as a pro on Saturday, helping the Los Angeles Rams down the Kansas City Chiefs, 20-12. Simpson entered the game midway through the second quarter and threw a pair of touchdown passes in the 4th quarter to lead a win over KC.

For the day, Simpson finished an efficient 21-of-25 passing for 190 yards. Here’s a look at his highlights from Saturday’s win.

Simpson was selected No. 13 overall in a surprise move by the Los Angeles Rams, which already has future Hall of Fame QB Matthew Stafford on the roster. The hope is for Simpson to learn under Stafford across the coming seasons and be the Rams’ QB of the future when the former Bulldog calls it a career.

And while preseason is just preseason, there was a lot to like about Simpson’s first NFL performance. Not only was he accurate, he also worked well with the pocket the Rams O-line gave him. Simpson showed off some scrambling ability and did not take a single sack on the afternoon.

Simpson will be back in action next Saturday as the Rams face off against the New Orleans Saints.
