Former Auburn receiver suspended by CFL for ripping opponent’s helmet off and throwing it at him

Former Auburn wide receiver Duke Williams has been suspended by the Canadian Football League after a recent incident.
The CFL announced that the Saskatchewan Roughrider pass catcher will have to sit 1 game due to ripping off Argonauts Shaquille Richardson’s helmet and throwing it at him. Richardson was also suspended for “initiating a confrontation with Williams when he crossed into Saskatchewan’s territory during pre-game warm-ups. He also later punched Williams during the game,” the league announced.

“Such pre-game hostilities are unacceptable and the use of a helmet as a weapon is especially dangerous,” said CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie. “Neither is to be tolerated.”
The Argos won the game 30-24.
Williams, the former Auburn pass catcher, has recorded 18 catches for 319 yards and 3 touchdowns this season. Williams was dismissed during his second season at Auburn.
Williams led the CFL in receiving in 2018 with 88 catches for 1,579 yards and 11 touchdowns.
