When LeBron James signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, many expected former Kentucky star DeMarcus Cousins to follow him.

However, that is not what happened, as Boogie surprised everyone on Monday night, signing with the Golden State Warriors instead.

The news was first reported by Yahoo!’s Shams Charania, and quickly confirmed by other league reporters and insiders:

The Warriors have been in the past four NBA Finals, and have won three titles. Now, adding another supreme talent like Cousins has set NBA Twitter on fire. Below are some of the top tweets from fans:

Cousins tore his Achilles tendon last season and may not be ready to play until January or later. That means he’s basically making $5.3 million to get healthy and maybe win a title this season before potentially hitting the free agency market again next summer, when he could land a massive new contract.
