Former LSU running back Josh Williams has earned a spot on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers roster headed into Week 1 and he’s extremely grateful for the opportunity. The undrafted 2025 free agent initially began as a walk-on at LSU in 2019.
Now, Williams is reflecting on how far he’s come.
“I always thought about just my journey and how I came to this point and period of time. Just going through what I went through at LSU, having to start off as a walk-on and then had to earn a scholarship. Deal with injuries here and there. So I just never gave up hope,” Williams said. “Came in, stayed more hours than they asked me to. Just really worked my tail off because I know this is my shot. I didn’t want to wake up 10 years from now and be like: ‘Dang, I should’ve did this and that’ and have regrets.”
During the last preseason game vs. the Buffalo Bills, Williams had 8 carries for 28 yards.
The 5-foot-9 Houston native played at LSU for 5 seasons. His best season was in 2022 when he rushed for 532 yards and 6 touchdowns. In his final college season, Williams had 482 yards and six scores on the ground.
