Iron Bowl flip: Highly-touted WR recruit flips from Alabama to Auburn on signing day
Auburn may have suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of its rival Saturday night, but newly hired head coach Alex Golesh and the Tigers just scored a win off of Alabama during the Early Signing Period.
Class of 2026 4-star Brian Williams, as rated by the 247Sports Composite, had been committed to Alabama since the first day of July.
But according to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett, the Orlando native flipped his pledge to join rivals Auburn on Wednesday, representing the first major victory Golesh has earned over the Crimson Tide.
Williams’ 6-foot-4 frame makes him comparable to current Tigers receiver Cam Coleman, who stands at just one inch shorter and led the team with 725 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns this past season.
A product of The First Academy, Williams becomes the 14th player to sign his letter of intent and join Golesh & Co. on Wednesday, with three other prospects being verbally committed as well. He’s also the second receiver to have signed in the class alongside 3-star DeShawn Spencer, while fellow 4-star recruit Jase Matthews is among the trio of verbal commits.
Auburn’s 2026 Class, which has seen plenty of turnover in recent weeks, currently ranks 35th in the nation according to 247Sports.
