The race for the College Football Playoff is heating up as we approach Week 10. The first CFP bracket will be unveiled on Nov. 4, but FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt is already taking a crack at predicting it.

The former Colorado quarterback provided his updated CFP field on Wednesday. Klatt has Ohio State as the top seed, followed by (in order): Texas A&M, Indiana, Alabama, Miami, Georgia, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Oregon, Notre Dame and South Florida.

That hypothetical field would yield some wild first-round matchups. Miami would play South Florida in a rematch of a game the Canes won 49-12 earlier this year. Ole Miss would face Tennessee in a battle between SEC squads. Georgia would face Notre Dame in a rematch of last year’s CFP quarterfinal game. Texas Tech would meet Oregon.

Ohio State, Texas A&M, Indiana, and Alabama would earn first-round byes.

Ohio State is the defending CFP national champion and will aim to join Georgia as the second team to win back-to-back titles in the 2020s. Texas A&M has never qualified for the CFP but has favorable odds to make the Playoff this season. Indiana made its first trip to the CFP last season before falling to Notre Dame in the first round. Alabama has the most CFP appearances of any team (8), but the Tide are looking to make it for the first time without Nick Saban.

This season’s national title game will be held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Jan. 19.
