Jon Sumrall says Florida had livelier crowd for FAU game than Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night

Jordan-Hare Stadium has a reputation as one of the toughest places to play in the SEC. Florida coach Jon Sumrall says he knows The Swamp can get louder.
Sumrall’s Gators are gearing up to host No. 4 Ole Miss on Saturday. The Gators are counting on a raucous environment to help disrupt the Rebels. The topic came up during Sumrall’s recent appearance on the Brandon Walker College Football Show, and the Florida coach made a comment that the Auburn faithful won’t appreciate.
“Our FAU game, the crowd I felt was livelier than what we played in on Saturday night,” Sumrall said. “So, I can only imagine what that’s gonna feel like when you bring a top-5 team into this place. And Ole Miss is a really good football team. I have a lot of confidence our fanbase is going to have an impact on the game.”

The win over Auburn seemed to be especially personal for Sumrall. Though much has been written and said about Sumrall being linked to the Auburn opening during last year’s coaching carousel, Sumrall shot down a reporter’s implication that he interviewed for the AU job, saying, “They didn’t want me and I didn’t want them.”
As Florida’s focus shifts to Ole Miss, the Gators will have their hands full. The Rebels moved up from No. 8 to No. 4 after a thrilling upset win over then-No. 7 LSU. Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss’s performance in the game has resulted in multiple national honors, as well as SEC Offensive Player of the Week recognition.
