Kirby Smart names 2 standout attributes of star C Drew Bobo

Georgia senior center Drew Bobo is back to full strength and will hit the field on Saturday against Oklahoma without any restrictions. Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart revealed the positive news on Monday about the star offensive lineman.
The 6-foot-5, 305-pound Bobo was dealing with a finger injury on his left hand that happened during fall camp. It required him to wear a club during games.
Now that the injury is completely behind him, Smart was effusive in his praise about Bobo’s work ethic and intangibles.
“Effort and toughness is what Drew [Bobo] embodies. He’s a captain. So what am I seeing from him? Effort and toughness. He plays with elite effort. You won’t find a play that he doesn’t cover down,” Smart said. “He’s by the pile, he’s knocking people off the pile. I don’t know what it is, but he has elite stamina to run and play and just keep playing. He can play every snap and not get tired.”
Smart raves about the Georgia native’s team-first mentality and willingness to do whatever it takes to hone his craft. Bobo was selected to the Second-team All-SEC squad last season.
Despite the physical limitations, Bobo still hasn’t given up a sack or QB pressure this season. It’s a testament to the attributes Smart listed about him.
“He has toughness. He’s played with an injury that’s been significant, and I know he’s excited to be out of the club this week, so he’s there to get out of that. I’m just proud of what he’s done and what he’s meant to our program,” Smart said. “People don’t realize how many years he’s spent down there on scout team, taking reps and just going against older D-linemen and improving. He’s improved himself to be the player he is, but he’s even better as a person of character in terms of carrying the mantra of our team, which is effort and toughness.”
Bobo, Smart and No. 2 Georgia will host Oklahoma on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN).
