Kirby Smart led the Georgia Bulldogs to a 28-7 win in the SEC Championship game against Ty Simpson and the Alabama Crimson Tide. The two have faced each other twice this season, with each team winning a game.
After the win on Saturday, the two were seen embracing at midfield, with the Bulldogs coach giving Simpson words of wisdom.
In the first matchup in Athens, Simpson did a phenomenal job of controlling the game. However, Smart and the Bulldogs made his job much tougher on Saturday, as they complete shut down the Crimson Tide’s offense.
Simpson was able to completely only 19 of his 39 pass attempts, finishing with 212 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Crimson Tide have struggled running the ball all year, and that once again was the case on Saturday as they -3 rushing yards on 16 carries.
Alabama could have clinched a berth in the College Football Playoff with a win on Saturday, but now Simpson and his team are going to be anxiously waiting to see if they will still get a chance to compete for the national title. The final bracket will be revealed on Sunday.
