Lane Kiffin to reluctantly make future decision on Saturday: ‘I feel like I gotta’
Lane Kiffin got the huge victory his Ole Miss team needed on Friday afternoon, with the 7th-ranked Rebels taking down rival Mississippi State, 38-19, on the road to complete a remarkable 11-1 regular season.
But there was another huge thing looming over Kiffin and his program even in Ole Miss’s proudest moment. Kiffin knows exactly what it is, because it’s centered around him and his future in Oxford.
Will Kiffin stay at Ole Miss for next year and the foreseeable future or will he jump ship somewhere else, even to another SEC locale like LSU, for example.
Naturally, he was bombarded with questions from reporters about his status after the Black Friday victory in Starkville but, according to On3’s Chris Low, Kiffin doesn’t plan to let this whole thing linger too much longer. Kiffin was asked directly whether he expects to make his decision on Saturday.
“I feel like I gotta,” Lane Kiffin said on Friday, according to Low.
That means that as much attention that was on Kiffin and Ole Miss on Friday, on a game day, there will be that much more focus on the Rebels on a Saturday when they don’t even play a game.
Such are the crazy times that Ole Miss fans are living through right now, but it appears that all the wondering and waiting will finally end for everyone on Saturday.
