LSU linebacker Whit Weeks is looking forward to Week 3’s game at Ole Miss, one of the biggest on the college football calendar, with plenty of anticipation.
“I think it’s going to be awesome,” Weeks said on Sunday. “If you look at our schedule on the year, we play these games pretty much every single week from here on out. So every single week is going to be fireworks, so it’s going to be awesome.”
LSU and Ole Miss won’t just mark the SEC opener for both teams. It marks Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford, with the Tigers’ head coach sure to be booed heavily when he’s announced to the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium crowd. On top of that, it will be the first time since 1962 that both teams enter the Magnolia Bowl ranked in the Top 10. LSU is No. 7 while Ole Miss is No. 8.
Of course, there are the College Football Playoff ramifications that go along with it. A loss won’t hurt either team’s CFP hopes, but it won’t help, either.
Whatever Saturday holds, Weeks will be ready.
“We know what we’re walking into. It’s probably the most anticipated game of the offseason, probably of the whole season,” Weeks said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
