Coming off a trip to the national championship game, No. 6 Miami is aiming to finish the job this season for the program’s first title since 2001. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Hurricanes’ last national champion, which was emphatically punctuated with a 37-14 victory vs. Nebraska.
That stacked squad, considered to be one of the greatest in college football history, produced a whopping 38 NFL Draft picks. The star-studded roster included the likes of Ken Dorsey, Andre Johnson, Ed Reed, Clinton Portis, Frank Gore, Sean Taylor, Antrel Rolle, Jonathan Vilma, Jeremy Shockey and Vince Wilfork.
Now the current-day Canes will don the same threads as those all-time greats, as the program has unveiled 2001 throwback uniforms to celebrate the milestone.

Adidas is going out with a bang this season before Nike returns as The U’s apparel provider. Canes fans are probably already dreaming of Darian Mensah connecting with Malachi Toney for a game-winning touchdown in those nostalgic threads.
It’ll be fun to see if the magic from these uniforms can be recreated and The U can be restored to glory. Next up for Miami is a home game vs. Central Michigan on Sept. 26 (6:30 p.m. ET/CW).
