Mississippi State legend Dak Prescott raves about Kamario Taylor after hot start to 2026

Mississippi State’s legendary quarterback of the recent past had some glowing words for the current Bulldogs QB who just might become a legend in Starkville before it’s all over.
Dak Prescott, the longtime Dallas Cowboys signal-caller, was a 2-time 1st-team All-SEC quarterback for Mississippi State, playing for the Bulldogs from 2011-15. He threw for a ridiculous 9,376 yards during his Bulldogs career, with 70 touchdown tosses to just 23 interceptions, and he was a rushing machine, too, with 2,521 yards on the ground to go with 41 more TDs.
He did it all in Starkville, and now he’s watching another dual-threat dynamo play quarterback for Mississippi State. Prescott is loving what he’s seeing so far from Kamario Taylor, who has captured the imagination of Bulldogs fans in 2026, leading Mississippi State to a 3-0 start that includes a No. 24 ranking in the AP Poll and a big road win over South Carolina last Saturday in the team’s SEC opener.
Taylor’s stats through just 3 games this season? How about 832 yards passing with 11 touchdowns and just 1 interception, with a nifty 88.9 QBR to go with it. Taylor is completing 68.3% of his passes so far this season, and he’s getting it done on the ground, too, with 178 rushing yards and 1 TD.
Prescott is a big fan of his alma mater and a big fan of Taylor’s, and he had this to say about the quarterback who’s currently taking Starkville by storm:
“I love the mentality. I love the belief in himself and what he’s allowed Mississippi State to feel again. The excitement, I’m as excited about that program as I’ve ever been since I was playing,” said Prescott about Taylor, according to SEC Network.
Taylor’s next challenge will come this Saturday night at home against a ranked Mizzou team (7:45 p.m. ET, SEC Network) that will want to ruin this nice early season storyline in Starkville.
