Oregon State clobbers Mississippi State, forces elimination game for spot in College World Series Finals

All the rally bananas in Omaha weren’t enough to overcome Mississippi State’s deficit on Friday.
A game that could’ve sent the Bulldogs to the College World Series Finals instead turned into a rout. And now, it’s the Bulldogs who are facing another elimination game to keep their storybook season alive.
Oregon State’s 12-2 victory on Friday in Omaha marked Mississippi State’s first defeat of the College World Series.
It was the third straight game that Oregon State scored at least 11 runs, while it marked the first time in the College World Series that MSU surrendered more than 2 runs.
Despite the fact that the Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead in the first, it was pretty much all Beavers from that point forward. A 5-run second inning fueled what proved to be a one-sided affair after MSU’s atypical multi-day layoff in Omaha.
The Bulldogs will try to rebound and keep their season alive after their disappointing showing on Friday.
The time for Saturday’s do-or-die showdown is to be determined. If Arkansas beats Florida on Friday night, MSU and Oregon State will face off at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday. If Florida wins on Friday night, MSU and Oregon State will play at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday.
The winner will advance to the CWS Finals on Monday.
