Heading into Sunday’s NCAA Tournament Selection Show, the Kentucky Wildcats were still in the mix for a No. 1 seed in the tourney.

However, a loss to Tennessee in the SEC Tournament semifinals on Saturday didn’t help their cause, so the Wildcats ultimately fell to the No. 2 seed line when the brackets were announced on Sunday night.

The Wildcats will be the No. 2 seed in the Midwest region and will take on No. 15 seed Abilene Christian. The Wildcats and the other Wildcats will play on Thursday in Jacksonville, Florida.

Many Kentucky fans thought the Wildcats may be the No. 2 seed in the South region, since that regional final is in Louisville.

Instead, if Kentucky advances to the second weekend of March Madness, they’ll head to Kansas City.
