The Brendan Sorsby saga just took another turn. According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the NFL informed its teams on Tuesday that the league will not be holding a supplemental draft this year. This means that Sorsby will not be eligible for the NFL in 2026.

It’s important to note that Sorsby cannot sign anywhere as a free agent until he is drafted. Other professional leagues are in play for Sorsby, but he cannot enter the NFL until the 2027 NFL Draft.

Sorsby’s attorney told Rapoport that the NFL’s decision is a “violation of the CBA and the law” and that they will be pursuing legal action. Again.

Sorsby, of course, admitted to gambling on multiple sports while playing at Indiana and Cincinnati, including bets on his own teams. The NCAA declared him ineligible soon after, to which he was granted a court injunction to play for Texas Tech in 2026-27 following weeks and weeks of drama. The firestorm that ensued, including the threat of legal action from multiple entities, led to Sorsby and Texas Tech’s decision to part ways last week.

Since Texas Tech and the NFL are no longer options for Sorsby, he’ll either have to pursue a professional career elsewhere or attempt to sign with another college team.

Given his history, that would be tough to say the least.
