The NFL is not interested in playing games with former Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who is running out of options after Tuesday’s news that the NFL will not hold a Supplemental Draft in 2026.
Shortly after this news broke, reporters such as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero shared the letter that was sent to Sorsby from NFL General Counsel Larry Ferazani, which provided the explicit reasoning behind the NFL’s decision to deny him NFL eligibility for the 2026 season.
The letter insists that Sorsby did not submit his petition for the Supplemental Draft with any supporting information or documentation, and pointed out that the petition was only made after Sorsby walked away from litigation efforts with his parting from Texas Tech.
The letter also mentions that Sorsby has failed to demonstrate accountability for his conduct and that his petition provided no outline as to how he would adhere to the NFL’s principles governing the integrity of competition. Ferazani ends the letter by echoing Commissioner Roger Goodell’s emphasis that the NFL is a “privilege that carries significant responsibilities” while also encouraging Sorsby to prepare for a possible entry into the league in the 2027 NFL Draft.
