Nick Saban called it a great team win, and after the narrow escape at Ole Miss, the Alabama coach updated reporters on a pair of injuries.
“You’re responsible for the identity you create,” Saban said. “And it’s personal in terms of how you play and compete in the game and try to dominate the guy you’re playing against. I saw a lot of that in the second half, so we took a step in the right direction. We had to overcome a lot of adversity in the game, we didn’t get off to a great start. But the players just kept playing 1 play at a time and made the plays at the end of the game we needed to make.”
Eli Ricks is dealing with a head injury, while Jahmyr Gibbs suffered a twisted ankle, which is why he missed the second half.
In a game where Alabama scored 23 of the final 30 points in Oxford on Saturday to beat Ole Miss, 30-24, the Tide appeared to get better as the game went on.
Nick Saban on Alabama CB Eli Ricks:
“He is okay. His head is the issue. We have not tested him in the concussion protocol, but I saw him in the locker room. He’s okay.”
