No time to celebrate: ESPN’s Chris Low details early staff meeting Nick Saban had day after return from title game

By now, we all know how intense Alabama coach Nick Saban is. It is what has helped him lead the Crimson Tide to 6 titles, including a perfect 2020 season.

Well, let’s just say Saban doesn’t exactly take too much time to celebrate a national championship, either.

During Thursday’s edition of “The Paul Finebaum Show,” ESPN’s Chris Low revealed that, after returning from Miami on Tuesday evening, Saban had his staff meet really early on Wednesday morning (via 247Sports):

“They got back from Miami on Tuesday afternoon at 4 or 5 o’clock and they had a staff meeting at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday,” Low said. “And talking to some of the people in that staff meeting, they said you would’ve never known or any idea we had just won a national championship.

“If you ever want to tell a story about Nick Saban and how he’s wired, that’s it. He’s constantly looking ahead, next challenge. He loves telling the story of Michael Jordan, all the game-winning shots he hit. It was always the next one he was going to hit. Saban is the same way.”

Obviously, Saban soon had to replace many of the people who would have been in that staff meeting, as many assistants left for other jobs after winning the title.

But, Saban’s intensity is what makes him the greatest coach of all-time, so it’s no surprise he was back at work less than 48 hours after winning title No. 7 overall.
