Oklahoma won a big recruiting battle on Sunday morning, beating out multiple SEC rivals for 3-star running back Jakoby Dixon.

According to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett, Dixon chose the Sooners over Texas, Oregon and Texas A&M, among others.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me through my journey, this is just the beginning,” Dixon told Rivals.

Dixon is a big pickup for the Sooners in the class of 2027. A 3-star prospect, Dixon is currently ranked as the No. 704 overall player and the No. 51 running back in the nation for this cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Dixon is Oklahoma‘s second running back commitment in the class of 2027. The Sooners have also earned a pledge from 4-star Keldrid Ben, who has been committed to OU since December of 2026.

However, Dixon is the first running back in 2027 to commit to OU since the Sooners hired new running backs coach Deland McCullough this offseason. OU lost former running backs coach DeMarco Murray to the Kansas City Chiefs after the 2025 season.

Oklahoma is putting together an elite recruiting class. The Sooners now have 22 commits and the No. 2-ranked class in the nation, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
