Oklahoma State players sing ‘Country Roads,’ Eric Morris crowd surfs after win over West Virginia

The Oklahoma State Cowboys started the Eric Morris Era with a loss to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane; not ideal. They immediately responded by beating then-No. 6 Oregon 39-31, though, flipping the script on Week 1 overreaction season. Today, they’re 3-1 following a 41-24 victory at the West Virginia Mountaineers. It was Morris’ first Big 12 win, and the team celebrated accordingly.
In the locker room after Oklahoma State’s win, Morris conducted a singing of John Denver’s Country Roads and crowd surfed his players. The Cowboys broke out into raucous cheers when their head coach left his feet.
Quarterback Drew Mestemaker put on a passing clinic in Morgantown, racking up 389 yards on 20 completions. Wide receiver Wyatt Young reeled in eight grabs for 192 yards and a touchdown to lead the team.
Defensively, four different Cowboys recorded double-digit tackles. Senior linebacker Ethan Wesloski contributed to 17 stops, including a half-sack. The McKinney, TX native had just 19 combined tackles entering Week 4, but was all over the place on Saturday. Defensive back Mose Phillips III intercepted West Virginia quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. and helped hold him to a 45.5% completion percentage (10/22) in the game.
Oklahoma State goes on bye in Week 5 before welcoming the UCF Knights to Stillwater on Oct. 10.
