Oklahoma is in Starkville for a Week 8 game at Mississippi State. The Sooners, though, will have one teammate on their minds when they take the field.

According to the Oklahoma football X account, sophomore OL Sean Hutton, who joined the team as a preferred walk-on in 2025, is in the hospital after suffering “a rare medical event Wednesday.” According to KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City, Hutton suffered a head injury during a Wednesday practice but was “alert and conscious” while being taken to the hospital.

“It wasn’t like he got hit in the head or anything like that,” Sean Hutton’s father, JD Hutton, told OU Daily on Wednesday. “His mom called me and told me that he collapsed, and she didn’t tell me any other details.”

To honor Hutton, Sooners players will wear helmet stickers during the game against the Bulldogs.

“Sean is in stable condition and good spirits, and we look forward to his return to campus and our team,” Oklahoma’s statement on social media read.

Hutton, a business major and a Lewisville, Texas, native, received PWO offers from both Texas and Texas A&M before ultimately deciding to attend Oklahoma. He has played in one game this season.
