A walk-on transfer running back is now on scholarship for Ole Miss as a linebacker.
Ole Miss shared a video Friday of Mark Robinson learning he is on scholarship after a team workout session.
Rebels fans may remember Robinson’s name from spring practice. Lane Kiffin praised Robinson’s previous work on the scout team (or service team, as Kiffin calls it) and emergence at linebacker:
โYeah, Markโs a great story,โ Kiffin said of Robinson. โAs a running back that walked on hereโฆ Really, he was ineligible (last season) because of transferring, which is another conversation โ I donโt know why a walk-on should ever be ineligible โ so he had to sit out.
โHe was on our service team, and just thought wow, this guy could be a really good linebacker. Just by how he did in special teams drills. So, moved him over there, was a service team linebacker for us and did a great job.โ
BE UNCOMMON. 🗣
