An Ole Miss commit has decided to lock into the program. 4-star defensive lineman Mitchell Turner announced on social media that’s shutting down his recruitment.

The 6-foot-3, 275-pound Turner is the No. 1 prospect from Mississippi as well as the No. 5 defensive lineman and No. 57 player in the nation for the Class of 2027 according to the 247Sports Composite.

There were rumblings that Turner could flip to Alabama after taking a visit on Saturday. However, he affirmed his pledge to Ole Miss.

“After talking with my family and taking some time to think, Iโ€™ve decided to officially shut down my recruitment,” Turner said. “Iโ€™m 100% committed to Ole Miss and excited about whatโ€™s ahead. I appreciate every coach and program that believed in me.”

Turner initially committed to Ole Miss in June over offers from Texas, Alabama, LSU, and Mississippi State. He’s slated to play in the 2026 Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game on Dec. 12 at 12 p.m. ET from Mobile.

Ole Miss is now ranked 12th nationally in recruiting for the Class of 2027 according to 247Sports. The Rebels have 12 4-star prospects, including 5 players who are ranked in the top 10 for their respective states.
