Ole Miss star Kewan Lacy ‘uncertain’ for Florida game, per report

Ole Miss may be without star running back Kewan Lacy for this week’s high-profile matchup with Florida.
Lacy suffered a shoulder injury in Ole Miss‘s dramatic win over LSU in Week 3. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Lacy had an MRI on Sunday that provided further clarity on his status.
Per Thamel, Lacy’s injury is not expected to keep him out for the “long term,” but he’s “uncertain” for this week’s game against the Gators. Thamel says Ole Miss will monitor his status throughout the week:

If Lacy misses time, it would be a huge loss for the Ole Miss offense. He’s one of the most dynamic running backs in the country when healthy and could be a candidate for the Doak Walker Award again in 2026.
So far this season, Lacy is averaging 4.9 yards per carry and has already scored 4 rushing touchdowns on the season.
In 2025, Lacy was absolutely dominant in an Ole Miss win over Florida. He rushed for 224 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 34-24 win over the Gators — arguably the best game of his career so far.
With Lacy out, Ole Miss is likely to turn to JT Lindsey at the running back position. Lindsey carried the ball 4 times for 20 yards in the win over LSU in Week 3. He has 48 yards on 12 carries so far this season.
Ole Miss and Florida will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
