Pete Golding gives injury update on running back Kewan Lacy

No. 6 seed Ole Miss apparently dodged a major injury Saturday against No. 11 seed Tulane in the first round of the College Football Playoff, as Rebels coach Pete Golding told reporters after the 41-10 victory that running back Kewan Lacy has a “bruised shoulder” and will be further evaluated over the weekend.
Lacy rushed for 89 yards on 15 carries – including a 20-yard touchdown run in the first quarter – against No. 11 seed Tulane in the CFP first round Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium before sustaining the injury late in the second quarter. He was able to return to the field after the break, but exited again in the second half.
Lacy, who transferred from Missouri to Ole Miss after his 2024 season, has gained 1,279 yards on 258 carries with 20 touchdowns in 13 games so far in 2025. He also has 25 receptions for 154 yards.
Ole Miss advances to take on No. 3 seed Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day (8 pm ET, ESPN), the first time either SEC power has played each other in the postseason.
Georgia owns a 34-14-1 record all time against Ole Miss dating back to 1940, and the teams have played 5 neutral-site games – all in the regular season – against each other throughout history.
