From Gainesville to Starkville, it was separation Saturday in the SEC this weekend, as a host of the league’s top teams began their conference seasons in earnest.
Following a loaded slate of games, ESPN’s Peter Burns opted to share his takeaways from the week that was, and he delved into plenty of topics:
- Florida has its damn swagger back
- Georgia is the best team in the SEC

Burns tabs Georgia as the team to beat in the conference following its blowout win over Oklahoma, while he believes Texas‘ defense is what can carry the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff.
He also addressed the disappointing starts for both Oklahoma and Texas A&M, stating that both may need to start considering alternative options at quarterback.
And of course, Burns inserted some personal passion, emphasizing that Florida‘s swagger has returned with Jon Sumrall leading the way while simply calling Mississippi State‘s Kamario Taylor “the truth.”
