Michael Porter Jr. might be nearing a return after all.

A little over a week after a report surfaced that he was considering a return before the end of the season, the Mizzou freshman reportedly got some good news on Thursday.

According to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Porter was cleared for all basketball activities:

The former No. 2 recruit in the 2017 class initially appeared to suffered a serious back injury 2 minutes into his debut and hasn’t played since then. It’s unknown when Porter would be able to suit up.

Mizzou could certainly use a shot in the arm from the hyped freshman after dropping consecutive conference games by one possession.

The Tigers have a huge showdown at Kentucky on Saturday night, which could have big implications for their NCAA Tournament status. Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology had Mizzou as a No. 7 seed.

If Porter does return for the stretch run, the Tigers would certainly be an interesting postseason matchup.
