Possum on the field: Marsupial makes hilarious appearance during college football game

On Thursday night, the phrase playing possum was taken to the next level. A possum hilariously made its way on the field during the first quarter of the in-state rivalry contest between TCU and Texas Tech.
The marsupial joyfully ran loose around the 15-yard-line before being contained by Texas Tech staff member and escorted to animal control services. Texas Tech president Lawrence Schovanec consoled the possum once it reached the tunnel.
But needless to say, the possum wasn’t thrilled when its brief moment of fame ceased.

However, the possum might’ve brought good luck to the Red Raiders as they edged the Horned Frogs 35-28 to snap a 2-game losing streak. Texas Tech (4-5) might have a Rally Monkey situation on its hands as they aim for bowl eligibility down the stretch of the regular season.
Texas Tech might want to pack the possum with them next weekend because they’ll have a tough test at No. 21 Kansas.
