Reports: Mississippi State lineman with starting experience enters transfer portal

Mike Leach continues to see his roster evolve this offseason, and now a redshirt freshman offensive lineman has entered the transfer portal.
Brandon Cunningham, who played in nine games this past season, including one start, is re-thinking his future with the Bulldogs, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of AL.com.
David H. Murray of Gene’s Page reported that Cunningham missed only the home game against Auburn and the Bulldog victory in the Armed Forces Bowl. He got into the season-opening win at LSU as a backup, then four weeks later took snaps at Alabama as a right guard. Yet only a week later though Cunningham found himself in the starting lineup, when the line was shuffled because of the absence of left tackle Charles Cross.
That caused Kameron Jones to briefly fill in at left tackle, and allowed Cunningham to step in at right tackle for his one Mississippi State start. Cunningham also played defensive tackle at the end of the season.
Entering the portal does not automatically mean a departure, but Cunningham’s decision came nearly a month after classes began, and several weeks ahead of the projected start of spring practice.
MSU is in the midst of a roster shakeup after seven seniors have elected to not use an extra year of eligibility, and there are at least six transfers coming to Starkville. And there were at least 10 other players who decided to move on from the Bulldogs.
