Rocky Beers hurdles UTEP defender for spectacular 40-yard touchdown

The name’s Beers. Rocky Beers.
The former Colorado State tight end is more than just a college football all-name team member. He’s already making an impact in Norman as the Oklahoma Sooners open their season against UTEP.
Beers showed off his athleticism in the first quarter with a spectacular 40-yard touchdown play, which included Beers hurdling a UTEP defender for the score. It goes down as John Mateer’s first passing touchdown of the season and Beers’ first score as a Sooner.

Beers started his college career at FIU, but really started to make an impact last season after transferring to Colorado State. Alongside running back transfer Lloyd Avant — who scored Oklahoma’s first touchdown of the 2026 season on the first drive against UTEP — Beers decided to transfer to Oklahoma for the 2026 season.
While playing for the Rams, Beers collected 31 receptions for 388 yards and 7 touchdowns. It makes sense that he would be a strong red zone target with his 6-foot-5, 240-pound frame.
Beers is one of 3 tight ends added out of the transfer portal expected to play a role for OU this season. He joins Florida transfer Hayden Hansen and Tennessee transfer Jack Van Dorselaer.
