Scott Frost, Nebraska set the wrong kind of history with loss to Iowa

Nebraska was once one of the blue bloods of college football. Lately, the Cornhuskers have hit a rough stretch, and 4 seasons into the Scott Frost era in Lincoln, it appears it’s not going to end any time soon.

The good news for Frost is that he’s received a vote of confidence from athletic director Trev Alberts, who joined his alma mater from Nebraska-Omaha in July, on a return for 2022. The bad news is that on Friday the Huskers lost, again, this time by allowing 19 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to fall to Iowa 28-21. Their season ends at 3-9 (1-8 Big Ten) as they finish with a losing record for the 5th straight time.

And it’s not as if Frost’s teams were getting blown out this season, which makes it even more frustrating for Nebraska fans. In fact, they lost 9 games this year by single digits, which is a college football record.

Frost may be back in 2022, but his seat will be white-hot. And if things get off to a poor start next year, Alberts will have no choice but to hit the reset button as he looks to restore the program he starred with in the early 1990s to past glory.
