After a 3-3 week last week, Scott Van Pelt put 7 games in his “Weekly Winners” segment during Thursday night’s SportsCenter.

The iconic ESPN commentator is 48-52 on the season. He included 3 ACC games, a Big Ten game, a Big 12 game, and 1 SEC game in his Week 13 segment. Those picks are below:

  • Kansas +3.5 at Iowa State
  • Kentucky +8.5 at Vanderbilt
  • North Carolina +6.5 vs. Duke
  • USC +10.5 at Oregon
  • Temple +9.5 vs. Tulane
  • Pitt +2.5 at Georgia Tech
  • Stanford +3.5 vs. Cal

SVP is 6-4 against the spread when picking the Jayhawks. He is 3-1 when picking North Carolina. In both spots, he took the favorite to win outright but the underdog to cover the number.

Van Pelt said a team “can’t fake desperation” and USC desperately needs a win at Oregon to make the College Football Playoff. He said doing so is “a tall order,” but backed the Trojans to keep it within 10 points. SVP is 6-6 when picking the Men of Troy.

SVP is going back to the well with Pitt, which has been a bad play for him historically. He’s 4-8 ATS when backing the Panthers, but he said this week’s line “stinks.”

He is 11-6 when picking Kentucky in his “Weekly Winners” segment. Van Pelt added that Kentucky is still pushing for bowl eligibility, and he likes the Wildcats to “keep it tight” on the road. Kickoff in that game is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Vanderbilt is trying to avoid a letdown ahead of what could be a CFP play-in game against Tennessee in Week 14.
