Secretary of State Marco Rubio does the Gator chomp at ringing of NYSE opening bell

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is a Florida Gator at heart, and he showed that off for everyone to see at the New York Stock Exchange on Monday morning.
Rubio received his BA at Florida, and his son, Anthony Rubio, is a senior running back for the Gators after having walked on, so Marco Rubio really does bleed orange and blue. And in the aftermath of Florida‘s huge road victory over Auburn on Saturday night, which propelled the now 21st-ranked Gators into Sunday’s new AP Poll, Rubio decided to do a little Gator chomping just before ringing the opening bell at the NYSE.
These are good times early in the 2026 season for UF, which sits at 3-0 going into this Saturday’s titanic home showdown with No. 4 Ole Miss (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC), and Rubio didn’t miss his chance to represent the school where he once went as well as maybe signaling that Florida football is back on the map.

Rubio was in New York to kick off a big week of diplomacy, as he joined State Department officials at the New York Stock Exchange to mark the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
That was great and all, but Rubio snuck a little college football flavor into the serious business, something Florida fans should be aware of as they finish celebrating the Auburn win and get ready for a whole new SEC challenge this Saturday.
