Shane Beamer and South Carolina are off to a good start in 2026, as the Gamecocks moved to 2-0 after a 45-9 victory against Towson in Week 2. The schedule gets tougher in Week 3, as the Gamecocks host Mississippi State in the SEC opener.

On Sunday, Beamer talked to the media about the upcoming week, while providing injury updates on some key players.

Carter Miller is dealing with back tightness, and the transfer from UCF is a starter on the offensive line for the Gamecocks. Maurice Brown left the game against Towson with a bruise, while wide receiver DJ Black is dealing with a minor leg injury.

He had a good game in the season opener for the Gamecocks, as he had three catches for 62 yards.

Dylan Stewart is one of the best defensive players in the country, but he hasn’t played yet as he is recovering from the back issue from last year. The Gamecocks could definitely use him in the game against a Bulldogs team led by superstar quarterback Kamario Taylor.

Beamer may not announce Stewart’s plan until close to kickoff, but he is going to try and have his team at full tilt for the SEC opener. Kickoff between the two teams is scheduled for Saturday at 4:15 p.m. ET, and the game will be on the SEC Network.
