Much to no one’s surprise, the Alabama Crimson Tide are the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, as was announced on Selection Sunday. This marks the first time ver the team has ever ranked that highly.
Alabama men’s basketball finished out the season with a overall record of 29-5 with an SEC tournament victory to follow things up. Up next, Nate Oats’ team will face off against will face off against the winner of the Thursday matchup between SEMO and Texas A&M CC. The second round contest is set to take place against either San Diego State or Maryland.
As expected, social media had plenty to say about Alabama earning the top spot with an abundance of praise for just how of a level the team has been playing on:
Alabama will be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time EVER. And the Crimson Tide could very well be the No. 1 overall seed in a few hours.
No team played better basketball this week.

I’ve seen them all dating back to 1986 … many, many good Alabama basketball teams.
But this is the best Alabama basketball team I’ve ever seen. Absolutely, no question.

I give Alabama a hard time, but I have to congratulate them on such a fast and smooth transition from being a football school to a basketball school. That is not easy
