South Carolina has landed a wide receiver in the transfer portal that has previous SEC ties. Purdue transfer Nitro Tuggle, who formerly played for Georgia, is committing to South Carolina, according to On3.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound sophomore finished with 34 receptions for 500 yards and 4 touchdowns this season for Purdue. Tuggle’s receiving yardage was second on the Boilermakers.
Tuggle’s best showing this season was in the season finale against Indiana, tallying 5 receptions for 80 yards. His first career receiving touchdown came in a 34-17 win Southern Illinois on Sept. 6.
During his first college season at Georgia, Tuggle had 3 receptions for 34 yards.
Coming out of high school, Tuggle was regarded by 247Sports as the No. 3 prospect from Indiana and No. 24 wide receiver in the country. For his high school career, Tuggle recorded 173 receptions for 2,866 yards and 41 touchdowns.
South Carolina went 4-8 this season and finished second to last in the SEC. It was a regression from 2024 when South Carolina had a 9-4 mark and reached the Citrus Bowl, ending ranked No. 19 in the AP poll. The Gamecocks only won 1 conference game this season, a 35-13 victory vs. visiting Kentucky on Sept. 27.
