South Carolina lands transfer commitment from SEC running back
South Carolina made a big addition to its 2026 roster on Friday afternoon.
The Gamecocks earned a commitment from former Texas running back Christian Clark, who was one of the most sought-after running backs remaining in the portal. Clark was a 4-star prospect in the class of 2024.
Clark decided to enter the transfer portal after the Longhorns signed Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers this offseason.
The former Longhorn was productive in limited opportunities this past fall. He rushed for 236 yards and 2 touchdowns on 55 attempts. He also caught 4 passes for 57 yards.
Now at South Carolina, Clark figures to be a featured back in the Gamecocks’ offense. South Carolina struggled to run the ball efficiently in 2025, but has invested heavily in both its offensive line and its running back rotation so far this offseason.
Shane Beamer and his staff have signed 2 other running backs so far this offseason: former Penn State running back Jabree Coleman and ex-Ohio State running back Sam Dixon. The Gamecocks hope to be much-improved at that position in 2026.
Overall, South Carolina now has 19 transfers committed for the 2026 campaign. The class ranks No. 19 nationally, per 247Sports.
