South Carolina reportedly set to hire offensive coordinator with SEC experience

South Carolina appears to have found its new offensive coordinator. According to multiple reports, the Gamecocks are finalizing a deal with Kendal Briles.
Briles has been the offensive coordinator at TCU for the past 3 seasons (2023-25). He has SEC experience as Arkansas‘s offensive coordinator from 2020-22.

PFF rated the TCU offense 26th or better nationally in all 3 seasons Briles was OC.

2025: 79.9 (24th)
2024: 81.3 (20th)
2023: 79.3 (26th)
The TCU offense saw its best season under Briles in 2024. The Horned Frogs ranked No. 23 in ’24 with 33.5 points per game. TCU checked in at 43rd in 2025 with a slight dip to 30.8 points per game. This year’s scoring number is similar to 2023’s mark of 31.3 points per game (No. 41 nationally).
Shane Beamer is looking at employing his third offensive coordinator in as many seasons.
Dowell Loggains was South Carolina‘s offensive coordinator for 2 seasons, leaving before the 2025 season to become the head coach at App State. Loggains was succeeded by Mike Shula, who was fired before the end of South Carolina’s 2025 campaign.
According to ESPN’s FPI, South Carolina’s offensive efficiency ranks No. 82 nationally for 2025. Briles and the Horned Frogs check in at No. 35.
