A Tennessee fan offered Josh Heupel some advice on how to correct some of the issues in UT’s passing game.
Adam Sparks of the Knoxville News Sentinel shares that Wednesday’s “Vol Calls” included a fan’s take on the problem with deep passes.
โI hope in practice, weโve worked on our downfield passes,โ Robbie Slack from Tallahassee said during the weekly coaches show. โYou can throw darts as hard as you want to. But if you donโt hit that board, youโre not going to get points.โ
Per Sparks, Heupel acknowledged that the Vols are working on correcting passing issues.
โThe vertical passing game is something we absolutely have to connect on,โ Heupel said on the show. “There were plenty of opportunities where weโre clearly behind the defense and have opportunities to create huge plays and we donโt take advantage of it like we can.
“Iโve seen us connect on those things in the course of practices and scrimmages. Weโve got to get right on gameday.โ
Vols passers and receivers should be able to build some confidence in Week 3. UT hosts Tennessee Tech on Saturday. The game is set for noon ET.
